Equal Opportunities
Although the BETR has a particular role as the co-regulator to work with broadcast companies on equality of opportunity, there is clearly a need to ensure that the access to as many resources as possible are available for broadcasters and to make sure they are aware of where they can access resources. So on these pages we have listed some of the organisations that are there to help serve the broadcast industry and to say a little bit about their role on function. You can also look at the BETR website under the heading Equal Opportunities which will also give you access to our EO Self Evaluation Toolkit which we think is also a very useful way of broadcasters or any other company assessing and reviewing their performance.
The organisations that anybody working in diversity in the broadcast industry or the media industry ought to be aware of are set out below. They are:
- Advisory Committee on Older and Disabled People (Ofcom) (ACOD)
- To represent within Ofcom the interests of older and disabled people on broadcasting, telecommunications and spectrum issues, to ensure that Ofcom’s policies and practices take into consideration views expressed by older and disabled citizens and consumers
- Broadcasting and Creative Industries Disability Network (BCIDN)
- The Broadcasting and Creative Industries Disability Network (BCIDN) brings together the UK's major broadcasters, film-makers and others in the creative industries to explore and address disability as it relates to the media industry.

- The CDN focuses on working with its member broadcasters on sharing expertise, resources and models of good practice.
- Radio Industry Diversity Group (RIDG)
